nothing to update with

It’s December already, and I’m busy doing the stuff that needs to be done to finish my final thesis. It’s a pretty boring life right now because I was doing the same things every day: setting up simulations and running them, then look at the results and go nuts!

Hence, the lack of proper update on this blog.

I really have nothing to write, at all!

Anyways, today before arriving at my research lab, I stopped by a friend’s house to clean some viruses and nasty spywares. It was such a long time since I dealt with famous spywares such as backWeb, WebSearch etc, it’s nostalgic.

Actually, viruses and spywares are very easy to fight off on Windows, IF you have these things installed before hand:

1) ORIGINAL Windows with the latest Service Pack
2) An ORIGINAL Anti virus (ones that comes with a firewall is better)
3) A free spyware scanner (my favorites are Malwarebyte and Spybot)

If you have these installed, and you regularly do spyware scans (like on a weekly basis), no worries are required. As for anti-virus software, Kaspersky and Bitdefender offer the best protection with the most value for your money.

Moving on to a more non-geeky subject, tomorrow I’m planning to go to the city’s driving license test centre to take my driving test! I have to be there before 8:30 a.m. so I better sleep early tonight, or I might not be able to wake up on time.

I don’t plan to buy a car this year, but the people from my company said that I better acquire a Japanese driving license when I’m still a student; I won’t have time to go and take a driving test when I enter working society (*o*)

  1. Cool, thanks for the advice on spyware/virus protection. How did the driving test go? I herd some scary overtime work hours on a regular basis is normal there in Japan.

  2. the driving test went bad... i failed the test, so i have to take another one ;(

about the overtime work hours... although not as common as during the 80's and 90's, there will still be a compulsory overtime hours that has to be filled each month.

the difference is that they pay for the extra hours very handsomely, so nobody is complaining really.

i'm talking about engineers... i don't know about those marketing people though...
