i've tried this method gazillions of times, and it never leave me in vain. behold my most genius technique on how to break the ice and make your japanese classmates, your friends:
cook them malaysian curry. make it spicy and serve them hot with akita komachi (japan's finest rice).
end of the great revealing of my powerful technique developed after years of dedicated research. proof of my great success:
p/s to my research subject depicted above, yuusei: gomen ne hahaahaha!
extra info:
curry is not exotic at all in japan. curry has been brought to japan since the meiji period by the british, thus were considered a western dish at that time. it does not take too much time for the spice-based dish to be popular here. it was during the 90's when restaurants and supermarkets all over japan started selling curry; and after that curry has been one of the most popular dish in a japanese home. the main difference between japan and malaysian curry is that, japanese curry is not hot but rather sweet (because apple and honey is added). malaysians add coconut milk in their curry while japanese don't. so to sum it up, japanese curry is sweeter, thicker and milder than the average malaysian curry.
