what movie review are you talking about?!

Juno – 8.2
Another fitting title for this movie would be ‘Not Another Teen-Pregnancy Movie’. Although the main character, Juno has too many ‘smart-mouth’ dialogues, it worked because the lines were delivered so casually. Sometimes I was laughing at the same time feeling very uncomfortable with the jokes because it’s such a serious issue. Tight script, casual acting and a different take on teen-pregnancy makes this movie one of a kind.

30 Days of Nights – 7.5
If you look past the Alaskan setting, this movie is just another vampire/horror movie that you’ve seen so many times in the past. What makes this flick watchable is the gore and violent scenes; complete with several beheadings. As a horror fan, I don’t remember getting scared at all. The ending was quite good though, I liked it.

Boys N The Hood – 8.0
A tale of a group of African-American kids trying to grow up in a ghetto neighbourhood filled with constant shooting and violence in South Central during the ‘90s. This is not a gangster movie, but more of a drama about the hardship of life in the ghetto for teenagers; and most of those hardships originated from themselves.

Charlie Wilson’s War – 8.4
Tom Hanks really knows how to choose his films. Based on a true story, a Texas congressman, with the help of the sixth richest women and a CIA agent, helped the mujahedeen get effective weapons to fight the invading soviet army during the afghan/soviet war during the ‘80s. This film blends comedy into serious political drama like no other before it, and it worked flawlessly; thanks to tom hanks’ once again great performance and a really tight script. There were no boring moments in this movie. It’s funny, serious and entertaining to watch the whole way through. The film also tried to portray American foreign policies on current international issues, and how much identical the methods used to make these policies valid on the meeting table. Recommended, if you like foreign politics in your movies.

The Protégé – 8.0
Not just another Hong Kong thriller about undercover cops, this film set itself apart by putting humanity into both the criminals and cops involved, creating a very believable story and atmosphere. If you like hong kong undercover cop thriller like Infernal Affair etc, you are going to enjoy this one.

Enchanted – 8.6
I don’t remember being so happy by just watching a movie! The idea of animated fairy tale characters coming to life is not a new one, but with the touch of Disney’s professionalism, this movie has become one of my favourites of 2008! The story and narration was so simple and easy to follow, and requires no effort from your part. Its family-friendly humour, fantastic and surprisingly quite catchy songs and an adorable cast made this parody (sort of) of Disney’s fairy tale movies, worked! And oh, the princess in the movie (amy adams) is the sweetest! Freaking adorable! Of course you can nitpick the bad acting, blatant cheeziness and predictable storylines, but if you could look past all that, this movie is very entertaining and fun to watch. The only scene that I don’t like because it was quite ‘off’ was the ‘talking-dragon fight’ at the end. Everything else though, was solid. Bring your kids and your grand parents together to watch this! Highly Recommended! Don’t be serious and expect a complex, highly technical movie, and enjoy it with an open heart!

Micheal Clayton – 8.0
The movie is slow and it builds up in an unusual way but the ending was quite awesome that it’s worth it. Probably not a movie that I would recommend to everyone because it’s not very focused until the last 30 minutes; and if you don’t pay close attention to what the characters are saying, you might focus on details that does not matter at all to the whole point of the movie. With that said, George Clooney did his best performance ever, and that helps a lot because the director really put a great importance on the characters and their struggle to overcome the hardships in their life. Unlike Enchanted, this movie can confuse and even bore you, but if you like films like devil’s advocate, you’ll surely are going to enjoy the dialogs and every detail put into the characters and story. And oh, this film had the best opening screenplay ever! Tom Wilkinson was brilliant!

first ski experience! スキー初体験!

It’s almost 5 years since I first set foot on Japanese soil, and before last week, I’ve never skied before! So last week, about 10 days ago, I joined the university’s ski tour to ski for the first time in my life! I’ve snowboarded before (like 2-4 times a year) but never tried ski so was very excited and looking forward to this trip.

The trip was targeted to foreign student who had no ski experience whatsoever so it was the perfect trip for me.

It was a two hours trip from the university to the tazawako ski sports facility, the place where we’re going to stay and consume food. Talking about food… let’s just say that it was not the best they could offer.

After taking our first meal, I went to the powder room. To take a shit. And then I was surprised with the toilets they have in the facility. Of course it had the normal warmed seat, jet-water and all; the weirdest thing about the toilet, as seen on the picture above is that it has a button in which if you push it, the toilet seat would make an artificial flushing sound. At first I really don’t understand why the genius Japanese toilet makers would create such functions. Then I used my knowledge of Japanese culture and ways of thinking to solve this mystery.

Let me explain it to you in detail here. See, the Japanese are very polite and don’t want to cause you any unpleasant feelings. Remember this mentality. Then I would like you to imagine yourself shitting a huge pile of shit one day, and the toilet cubicle at both sides are also occupied with people who probably would shit a huge pile of shit too. If you would shit a huge, long, hard human faeces and drop it into the toilet, it would surely make a loud splash sound, a ‘plup’ sound, whatever. This distinct sound is quite embarrassing; so if you are a true Japanese, you would flush the water in just milliseconds before the huge, long, hard shit starts coming out of the hole of you arse and touching the water below. Are you following me? The sound of the flushing water would sort of ‘cover’ the sound of your huge, long, hard shit dropping into the toilet hole. People were doing it since the introduction of western toilets, I guess.

But with the rise of awareness to save water to help with the global warming, this practice seemed very unreasonable because you are wasting water. If you used this method, you would have to flush two times! Oh what a waste! So the brilliant guys at the toilet companies made a remarkable invention: put a button that actives the sound of flushing water! Now, no matter how big, how long and how hard you shit is, you will never have to waste water to cover the sound of your humongous shit dropping into the water. If you felt like the tip of your long, hard shit is just about to come out of your arsehole, just push the button and you are safe from the embarrassment of the sound of your own shit. Man, this kind of invention made me love the Japanese more!

I think even if you’re shitting messy; I mean like diarrhoea-kind of messiness, you could also use the button to cover the sound of shit spraying out of your butt.

Enough about the toilet already! After having some quality time at the powder room, we were told to strap on our ski gear because we’re taking our first ski lesson! Then we were separated into groups; with my groups consisting of 2 malaysians and 3 koreans. The 5 of us had not skied before so everyone looked like a idiot trying to balance themselves for the first time while slowly trying to learn how to break and turn. It was a great lesson and I think I’ve picked it up quite fast, unlike when I first learned how to snowboard. Now I know, snowboarding is a lot harder than skiing.

Skied for 3 hours and that’s enough for the day. I was quite tired after the lesson so I ate like a the fat kid on tv. Then later into the night, they had arranged a little ‘japanese winter’ event for us. First, we were tasked to draw/spray images onto these blocks of flatten snow. We were tasked to draw an image with the theme: Japanese Spring. it took us like 30 minutes and honestly, it was one of the ugliest drawings on a flattened snow that I have ever seen in my entire life. I think our group is kinda retarded. Then I looked at the drawings of the other teams. Thank GOD, they’re far worse.

Then we were tasked to dig holes on walls of pressured snow; holes big enough to fit a candle. Then we put candles into those holes and light it up. The end result is quite amazing, considering how retarded we are. Everyone said it was pretty. I was saying lets get inside I’m freezing my arse out here. Before going to bed, I went into the ofuro (hot spring) to get myself hot and went to sleep like a big baby. Ok, a gorilla baby.

The next morning, I went to the ofuro again; it was awesome! I really like hot springs, it makes your body warm and relaxed. The only negative thing about it is that you have to be fully naked to be able to go inside. I am quite shy when it comes to showing my own dick to strangers, so I always cover my little brother with a small towel, baring my arse for all to see of course.
You see, being a foreigner and also shy to show your penis to the public, it was quite hard. You want to know why? Well, it’s because the Japanese were also very curious people. They want to know. How big/small is the dick of a foreigner? I once went into a traditional hot spring in Nagano with a Nigerian friend, and everyone in the place was looking at the African guy. The Nigerian is not like me; he is not afraid to show his penis to the public. And I think I know why. If an innocent Japanese school girl accidentally saw his penis, she would run away because she might think that she had seen an amazon anaconda. You got the picture. If that guy chooses to work in the Japanese adult entertainment industry as a porn star, I’m sure he’s going to the very top. Yeah.

Enough with huge dicks and ofuro; the next morning, we went out again for the second time. This time, it’s not training anymore; we’re going to get on the lift so that we could start skiing from the top of the mountain. Although I’ve done this many times before, having ski gear at your feet instead of a snowboard does made the experience fresh. There was a slight rush of fear while I was going up the hills because the cable lift were constantly shaking up and down, left to right. I looked down and thought: man if I fall down, I might as well zip down and show my freezing penis to the whole world because I won’t survive the fall.

The moment of truth has cometh upon me. Everyone was on the top of the hill and was waiting to go down. This is the time to use those braking and turning techniques that we learned and practiced yesterday! One by one, the foreign student goes down. A lot of them fell down; one hit a tree and only a few stays standing on their feet. I was glad my training paid off!

The sense of speed rushing onto my face boils me excited, so I went up again to do it all over again. It was fun. After a couple of hours of skiing, the ski instructors told us to go down for the last time because we don’t have anymore time.

Then the inevitable group photo time comes. We took lots of photos, congratulate each other for a small achievement and went back to our staying place for the last lunch and to prepare to go home.

All in all, it was a great weekend. This is what I call a weekend well spent! I never thought that skiing was this fun! But I have to be honest, snowboarding is way cooler, so I ain’t skiing anymore yahoo !!! I want to snowboard !!!

jimmy kimmel is fucking ben affleck

..

after the hilarious 'i'm fucking matt damon' video by comedian sarah silvermann, jimmy kimmel gathered hollywood stars to counter the video by producing one of the funniest music video ever created by an american comedian.

it can't get any more better than this. how did he get Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford, Cameron Diaz, Joan Jett, Macy Gray, Robin Williams, Don Cheadle, Pete Wentz, Perry Farrell, Benji and Joel Madden, Lance Bass, Huey Lewis, Josh Groban, McLovin, Christina Applegate, Rebecca Romijn, and Dominic Monaghan, Meatloaf and a few other celebrities to co-operate in the makings of this purely genius music video?

the scale of awesomeness and pure owning in the video is beyond definition and cannot be fully expressed with human words. if you want to commit suicide tonight, please watch this video first. you might die laughing instead.

If you haven't seen the video, it's best to see 'I'm fucking matt damon' first before seeing 'I'm fucking ben affleck' for full effect.

Edison Chen: You’re My Hero !!!

This might be an old story but I have just found out about the Edison Chen sex photo scandal!!! Yeah Edison Chen from my favourite Hong Kong police movie Infernal Affairs! What an awesome scandal this one is, and it might be the biggest one in asia right now!

Chen was involved in a sex scandal in January 2008, when hundreds of racy photographs, reportedly stolen from his laptop while it was sent out for repair at a computer shop, became widely circulated on the Internet. Many of the photos featured explicit nudity, and included images of himself as well as several high-profile female celebrities from the Hong Kong entertainment industry.

Just think about it, do you know anyone else who had fucked as many celebrities as Chen? Edison Chen has become a living legend for sure. He fucked, anally abused and received countless blowjobs from many celebrities, and pictures of 14 of those ‘lucky’ celebrities sucking his dick and licking his balls ended up on hong kong internet forums. He even fucked Cecilia Cheung, who is extremely hot and has quite a talent in acting (see Lost In Time and The King of Comedy).

It was a bummer though that he had decided to step away from the entertainment industry to do voluntary and social work instead. Instead of fucking hong kong celebrities, he choose to fuck volunteer and social workers instead… I really don’t understand this guy.

If you want to see the picture yourself, it can be easily be found on hong kong torrent sites; but be warned, it’s very sexually explicit: lots of dick sucking and celebrities with unshaven pussy posing in front of Chen’s camera and… you got the point.

Ok to the lazy people, you can download the torrent here:

http://isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=edison+chen&ts

*p/s:

1) if you live in china though, it is best that you don't download the files because there has been cases of random people being arrested just because they have the images in their hard drive. so be careful !

2) the picture above is cecilia cheung, in a police woman cosplay! damn those hong kong celebrities know how to party! of course the picture was taken by Chen. Lots of other pictures that are more 'revealing' than this one; that is my assurance!

rebiuw mubee

Starsky and Hutch – 6.5
The 70’s detective movie vibe was great, but this film suffers by being too mediocre and not funny enough.

Beowulf – 7.5
Although the use of 3D animation and the latest motion capture technology was impressive, the facial animation was a bit lacking, and that alone has quite an impact to the illusion that the movie tried to create. Apart from that, the story was not so bad and the action sequences, especially towards the end are very well done and highly entertaining. And oh, Angelina Jolie still looks hot even in 3D! The reason this one is not getting a rating better than 7.5 is because the story was not strong enough and it did not bring anything new that we haven’t seen before.

Lucky Miles – 6.0
The tale of a journey of a group of illegal immigrants from Indonesia, Iran and Cambodia; being stranded in the Australian desert. Pacing and story was boring. Mediocre acting and the characters themselves is not interesting enough so you can’t really blame the actors. Not really worth your time.

Barnyard – 5.5
This must be the worst CGI movie ever. Bad animation, bad story, boring characters and not funny at all. Don’t bother.

The Call of Cthulhu – 6.0
Mind-bending, confusing, quite scary and in black and white. The video game is better than the movie; that’s all I can say.

Ocean Thirteen – 8.0
This third installment, just like the previous two, did not disappoint. With a great set of casts, storylines and flair dialogue, this film is a must see of you liked Ocean Eleven and Twelve. High value of entertainment for sure.

The Darjeeling – 8.0
Three brothers went on a spiritual journey in India, but ended up stranded in a small village and finally got more than what they’ve asked for. A pretty good ‘travel’ movie with some humor and touching moments mixed up.

No Country For Old Men – 8.9
A guy accidentally collected a huge sum of money from a drug deal that went bad, and then went running for his life from the hitman hired to take the money back. Very violent, very brutal and if you like movies like History of Violance, you are going to LOVE this movie. Story is simple and easy to follow. Every character is awesome, especially the hitman. Damn you don’t want to mess with the guy. A must watch film of 2008 and definitely deserved to be highly recommended.

In The Valley of Elah – 8.5
A very powerful story about a veteran, with the help of a young detective, who investigates the death of his son who’s just came home from a duty in Iraq. The film starts slow by fleshing out the fine details of the two main characters (tommy lee jones and charlize theron, both my favourites) and then right in the middle of the movie, starts to unfold the story one by one, back and forth like a ping pong match. One of the best anti-war + murder mystery movies I’ve ever seen, so I highly recommend this one.

Heroes Season 2 – 6.0
I am dumbfounded. How can it be this bad after a great first season? Writer’s Guild strike put aside, the second season of heroes is plain bad. Plot is extremely weak, it had no direction until the few last episodes, and the story about hiro going back to feudal japan was just insulting to the Japanese people. Just shows how ignorant the Americans towards asian culture. Why can’t they even do a bit of research about the difference between today’s Japanese language and during the feudal time? And oh, their Japanese accent is just the worst thing; I’ve seen other people who only learned Japanese for 3 months who could speak way better. Enough about the ‘went to feudal japan’ rant, the whole story of the second season is extremely weak and does NOT make you want to follow the story to the end. With the writer’s guild strike over, I hope they’d do better in the third season. To me, season 2 is just a long, painful, dumb advertisement for Heroes Season 3; and I’m hoping the producer would fire all the writers that worked on Season 2 and bring in some new blood to bring back the series to it’s place.

Prison Break Season 3 – 7.5
This season started high, then get toned down a bit in the middle, and after being dragged around with boring plot twists and an extremely dumb ‘prison breakout’, the tension sky-rocketed again just to make sure you’d watch the next season. The weakest of the three seasons, I don’t think I’m going to watch season 4. They have dragged this show to its limits. Prove me wrong!

Bee Movie - 8.0
There is nothing original with the story; a guy who felt different from society and want something else and different for his life so that he could live a more colourful life bla bla bla you've seen it in other animation movies like shark's tale, a bug's life, antz etc. Although the film is not an innovative one, the dialogues, the animation, the voice work; every bit of detail being put into the makings of this CGI movie is shining with fine polish and a huge spirit from the production crew, you can't help but felt it. The entire movie is filled with bee-jokes, and i was smiling the whole 90 minutes of my sitting. This is a good CGI movie, i recommends it. just don't expect it to be on the same level as the CGI giants such as Toy Story, Shrek, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles.

Namahage Matsuri 2008

I went to a Japanese matsuri (festival) in Oga, Akita last Saturday. The festival is called Namahage Matsuri, and were usually held at the beginning of a new year. I don’t really have a full understanding of the festival, but from what I can decipher from my visit to the namahage museum, namahage are japanese demons/ogres that came down from the mountains to search for ‘bad’ children and to wish the farmers good luck and prosperity. And no, they don’t rape those bad children; they just scare the shit out of them.

I went with the university tour program and the first place we stopped is at the namahage museum I mentioned before. The museum is packed with namahage stuff. They even sell hello kitty namahage keitai (cellphone) straps! I also got to try the namahage costume myself!

Then we went to this fancy onsen (hotspring) hotel to eat lunch. We had seafood nabe, smoked salmon, some other stuff and of course rice. The food is definitely nice! After filling up some energy into our bodies, we went back to the bus and straight to the namagahe festival!

The festival was held in the middle of the jungle, beside a shito shrine. There were a lot of people that mobility is limited and I can’t really take any good picture of the damned namagahe because dumb people were always blocking my view.

First, the people posing as namahage did some shito ritual shit that I don’t understand, and then they went up a small stage, dancing and playing the Japanese taiko (big drums). After that, they light up some torch and went uphill to do another ritual shit symbolising the return of the namahage to the mountains, and then they came back down to mingle with the humans downhill. At this point, it’s a fucking chaos with everybody wanting to take pictures and have the change to grab some of the stray the namahage guys were wearing, because it was believed that if you got some of that stray, you’d have a prosperous life the whole year. Everybody knows that it is utter bullshit but that does not stop the girl from the picture above to be super excited that she caught several long straw of garbage.

There was a lot of smoke from the praying and firewood, so I was coughing all night because I’m allergic to smoke. It was not very nice because soon I was feeling very dizzy and sick from the damned smoke. Worse, there were also a lot of greasy old bastards who smoked cigarette like it’s the end of the world tomorrow. Damn, why are people so dumb to suck on such smelly, disgusting smoke?

All in all, it was not a bad festival. I was just a bit disappointed that I couldn’t see more of the festival because there were too much people blocking my view.

school shooting

american school shootings. after the virginia tech massacre, it's like a trend now. the most recent school shooting in Northern Illinois that caused the life of 6, is the forth case in a week already. how could such monstrosity happen? how could young minds such as those killers be willing to took other people's life so randomly?

and it got me thinking. the real war the american should be fighting is not in iraq, afghanistan, syria or iran. it's in their own backyard, in their own community, in their own family.

the creation of dysfunctional individuals is not the effect of violent movies or video games. it's the collaborative effort of a community that despises people that are different and cannot accept LOSERS. America is a very competitive place to live that frown upon weakness and imperfections. they should really think about not thinking too much, take a chill pill and just relax. you don't have to smoke weed to make this world a better place, but you could be supportive to other people and just be nice to everyone. i know it's not an easy thing to decipher but all hope is still not lost. America is a falling empire, but that does not mean they should bring the people down with them.

banning guns to the public altogether could damper the arms business. but it surely could prevent these mass killings from happening again. or at least make it harder. so to the next US president: do the right thing!

just another movie review

From now on, i will rate my movies using alphabets, just like how devil may cry rate how stylish your kills are. *note: s>a

Rise of The Footsoldier – C+

Brutal, violent, unforgiving and shocking. What more could you ask from a mob/crime movie? Interesting storylines with acceptable acting performances made this film pretty watchable; IF you understand raw british slangs, that is. I have a very hard time trying to understand the dialog because it was so… raw!

Atonement – B+

The first part of the movie was brilliant; always keeping you interested in the plotlines about a little girl encountering sexual situations and interpreting it the wrong way, causing the demise of other people’s life. Then the film took a sudden change in pace and tone, from the bright sunny field to the dark, horrific reality of war. While they’re doing that, we were shown how the girl felt so much guilt in what she had done. I know, the title of the movie is ‘Atonement’, but I just hoped they didn’t take the sudden ‘gear change’. This movie’s excitement level is like the resultant graph of typical aluminium’s tensile strength experiment.

Lucky Me – C

A film about a young poker player having problem with his dad; and being a poker player, of course he is going to have money problems too. Eric Bana and Drew Barrymore were not so bad together, but the story was really mediocre and does not bring anything new. Lots of scenes of pro-poker player playing high-stake gambling too. Passable.

Tideland - B

One truly weird movie that tries to portray the bottomless depth of a lonely child’s imagination, and how desperate she is wanting to find a friend; and how the lack of guidance from society could leave a rather sweet little girl alone, helpless in her own fantasy world.

Jeff Dunham Spark of Insanity – A-

One of the funniest stage-performance I’ve seen this year. It’s charming, racist, hilarious and definitely worth to watch. Recommended to those who likes stand-up comedies.

Thin – B

An eye opening documentary about girls struggling with anorexia nervosa and their life inside a medical facility that specializes in girls that is too thin because they eat and throw up.

Curse of The Golden Flower – A+

I wonder what the budget of this epic Chinese movie was. Every single detail in this movie is amazing; it’s so extravagant, glamorous and colourful. The interesting story builds up nicely and was very well paced. The epic fight scene ala lords of the ring was one of the best thing that ever came from china. Recommended.

4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days – A

A Romanian movie about a girl who helped her friend do an illegal abortion. The camera angle and long dialogs really felt like a limited-released Japanese movie, and a good one at that. Issues that the movie was trying to convey is very shocking, and invoke lots of questions in the end.

Gone Baby Gone – A++

Now I have a new favourite director: Ben Affleck! Yeah, Ben Affleck The Daredevil guy. The movie starts quite slowly but when it reach the first half of the film, the tension sky-rocketed and you really can’t help but be engaged with the brilliant story and all the finely crafted twists and turns in the storyline. Very entertaining and Highly Recommended.

Hitman – A

Who would NOT like violence and boobs? To hell with the story, this is the best videogame-based movie of all time! The gun-violence sequences were stylistically mind-blowing and all the other fight+action sequences were very well made. This is a really fun movie to watch. Plus, Olga Kurylenko is the HOTNESS!!! There were also bits which only gamers who played the Hitman series would notice; it was brilliantly subtle that it does not ruin the whole feel of the film. I really hope other videogame-based movie in the future would learn a thing or two from this movie. I would definitely recommend this film even to those who don’t play video games, but LOVES action movies.

Planet Earth – SS

If you have a HD display, this documentary is a good place to start enjoying the beauty of high definition. Every episode has certain focus on certain areas of the earth like the deep oceans, plain lands, jungles, caves etc. and each episode has a certain story and theme to it that makes watching this documentary so much fun and exciting. No production has ever accomplished to shown such beautiful images of various species of animals; from small insects to giants such as whales. Every episode is rendered with beautiful colour and crispness, you really felt like being there, into deep oceans and through the jungles. This documentary takes you into a world full of mystery, suspense, excitement, amazement and all the other awesome English words that describes the awesomeness of planet earth. You haven’t seen HD if you haven’t seen this documentary. Highly recommended.

Wind Chill – D

Scary movies were supposed to be scary. This has none of that quality. The story was not even interesting and leaves you clueless of what have happened throughout the movie. Don’t waste your time with this movie.

PersepolisA+

A brilliant animation about an outspoken Iranian girl growing up through the Iran-Iraq war and the Iranian Islamic Revolution. Then she was sent to Europe, gained experience about the world outside of Iran, and then returns to her home country once again to be shocked with what the effect the regime change has on her country. The movie successfully portrayed the real hardships of the aftermath of a significant revolution. It is deeply infused with ideological and political motives (it was obvious that the writer is slightly pro-communist or socialist) and that is what I love about freedom of expression: you have to be able to look at something from multiple points of view. Highly Recommended.

Slingshot – B

A very slow paced drama about a mentally ill guy who, after spending a good amount of time in treatment in a mental facility for hacking her mother up when he was 9; got out into the society and met with this kid who always wanted a father figure, in a very small town where every one is pretty conservative. Quite boring actually but Billy Bob Thornton did a good enough performance in this movie.

Elizabeth The Golden Age – A+

A pretty interesting movie with quite an interesting story about the life of Queen Elizabeth I, during her golden age, withstanding a great Spain armada attack. Pretty entertaining, with its melodramatic sequences of romance, drama and what not. But don’t expect it to be 100% historically accurate, it’s a Hollywood movie. Great story and superb performance by kate blancett really helped to make this film entertaining.

A Warrior’s Journey – B+

A documentary about Bruce Lee and his philosophy; his history and his ups and downs. Plus never seen before footage from The Game of Death. Must see for a Bruce Lee fan!

The Eye – B++

I’m a horror movie fan and I must say, the premise of this Chinese scary movie is quite interesting. The story is very simple: a blind girl successfully receives a new, working set of eyeballs. The problem is that her new eyes made her see things that a normal human being can’t. Although I think this movie is not scary enough, there is one eerily scary scene and one twist that distances this film from a lot of other scary movies.

Targeted Osama Bin Laden – B

A pretty in-depth documentary about the history of osama bin laden, and how he became the most wanted man in the world. For a man with such gargantuan evilness, he sure does have a very interesting history.

Leah Dizon: Exposed and Uncut – C+

The only gravure video that Leah Dizon made before coming to Japan. After seeing this, I couldn’t believe how much different she portrays herself in Japan. In America, she has this naughty sexy slut image and in Japan, she’s the most innocent, cutest thing. Amazing how she could bend her personalities and image according to Japanese taste.

Maresmart pkpx ulang tahun ke-8

So today is the 14th of February. To some people, it’s the day when they celebrate the death of this one Christian guy who nobody knows about much but because everyone celebrate it, they felt like they too have to join the train of valentine and be romantic and all that bullshit because they don’t want to be different from anybody else. They say (especially females) that it’s the day to be romantic and all mushy but the truth is that most guys don’t give a shit; as long as their girlfriends gave them free sex to celebrate valentine’s day, they’re all for it. To some marketing people, it’s the day when they could use the festive spirit to help push useless products that normally people won’t buy on any other day; like dumb valentine cards, chocolates wrapped in fancy valentine wrappings etc. but for me, 14th of February is the day when I registered to be a student of Maktab Rendah Sains Mara Taiping. And yes, I don’t give a fuck about valentine’s day.

I can’t believe it has been 8 years! I felt like a grumpy old geezer who believed that all young people should die a horrible death because they’re all so noisy and easily fired up on dumb shit, like news about Britney Spears and ice cream.

I remember the first time I walked into the front gate of the school. I was like “wow this place is so green and beautiful! It’s like I’ve been sent back through time a couple hundred of years when humans still couldn’t figure out how to mess the environment up! This has got to be a good school!”.

I was the skinny nerd village boy from Kelantan who doesn’t know a single thing. I was naïve back then that I believed everything that’s coming out of adult’s mouth. Every single teacher is like a role model. I look up to them. Of course, being human, there is no such thing as a perfect teacher; and I learnt that the hard way.

Fortunately for me, making new friends was not hard. Relationships were made. The imminent clash of ideas, confrontations and conflicts add spice to that relationship and it made it stronger and even better. I really think my social skills were greatly improved during my stay in maresmart. Before, I was very shy and don’t have a lot of things to say. After a few months in that institution, I could even burp loudly in class and be proud of it. Although i-lyn thought that it was disgusting, I was able to perform that feat in public because I was very comfortable with the people I’m with; and ain’t that a beauty.

There is a lot to talk about when it comes to your old high school. That period changed people and there were lots of memories, good and bad were made during that period. I am glad that I’ve spent my time in that school and the experiences that I gained there made me who I am right now; for better or worse. But I really think it made more good than harm.

I can talk lots of things about that school and I don’t think I will ever finish. The memories are very dear to me and it could not happen without all of my mates out there. So for that, I wish my mates a happy 8th anniversary!

snow storm !!!

i was walking back from school today and it was snowing with very strong wind; it's very scary; and exciting too. exciting because the wind was blowing so hard, it swept girls skirts up and i could see their panties. i know, a normal human being couldn't see a thing when it's snowing this hard, but i'm not a normal person. i think i have special pervert eyes. now i know, japanese girls wear black panties when it's a fucking snow storm out there ! i don't understand them. why wear short skirts in the first place during this frozen season ?! they could froze their vagina for all i care! wait a minute. or maybe they're thinking... with the extreme cold, maybe my lady sanctuary could become tighter and... i think i should stop. i just saw random panties of random girls. get over it. i should not think about it too much. but it's hard when you have an imaginative mind such as mine.

i think i want to wear black boxers from now on.

new TV !!!

at last, i got a new hi-def tv! at 70000 yen, this sharp aquos 32inch LCD TV is the best-valued LCD TV out there; well at least in japan. i bought this bigger, better tv because i was simply bored with my 4-years-old 14inch CRT TV (image above). it was time to upgrade into something that's future proof; into the high definition broadcasting era! although i'm quite late, i'm glad i made it.

with the small space in my current room, the tv looks huge and watching it for the first time is quite overwhelming. maybe for the size of my current room, a 26inch tv would be enough; but i'm moving to a new, bigger apartment this april so i just have to be patient and be 'overwhelmed' for another month.

so like every new electronics that i have spent my (read: malaysian tax payer's) money on, i did some testing to see whether it was a good deal or not . first, watching Digital TV Broadcasting of course! the factory setting for the tv is too bright for my taste so after fine-tuning and playing around with the software settings, i was more than satisfied with the superb picture quality. comparing a normal analog broadcasting with a digital one is like comparing the ps1 to the ps3: the bump in quality is HUGE! you can even see pores and lots of other visual imperfections of tv personalities that you can't see before with a CRT (analog) TV. i think malaysian tv stations should start broadcasting HD content as soon as possible; it's amazing!

this TV produces one of the best black colour on a HD TV ever! black is very deep and ghosting is very minimal although still noticeable if you look hard enough. the factory settings tend to make the skin tones a bit reddish too, but that can be easily fixed with software settings. to make it short, the picture quality from digital broadcasting is superb and i really can't ask for more at this cheap price range. the colour is very vibrant and vivd although i think the speaker lacks the 'umph' when compared to my computer's 5.1 speakers. actually, the worst thing about this tv is the speakers, it's quite 'murky'.

next, connection to the xbox 360. although this aquos does not support 1080p, it still look brilliant and sharp at 720p. well, a human eye can't really tell the difference between 720p and 1080i when comparing between two 32 inch HDTV at those respective resolutions anyways, so it's not really a big deal. you are only going to see a significant difference when the size of the tv is 40 inch and up.

when playing video games, the most concerning aspects of a HDTV is the response time; and this TV performed quite well. of course today's HDTV still can't beat the speed of a traditional CRT TV, but it's getting better and better and this aquos has proven to be a firm proof of that progress. i tried this with the new devil may cry 4; a very fast game that rely on fast button response and i have to say, i have not noticed any lag or what so ever. brilliant! but still, it's not even close to a CRT TV response time but i'll get used to it. so for the hardcore gamers, this tv is probably not the best tv for you. try the new samsung gaming tv instead, IF you have the extra dough.

lastly, i tested the TV as a second monitor for my computer. out of the three connections, this one looks the murkier and NOT as awesome; but of course it depends on the video source itself. you won't get crystal clear video when it's a 800x600 video! HD content still looks awesome though, but not the best that i've ever seen.

at first i got a bit confused with the automotive image stretching functions the tv used to handle videos with unconventional resolutions and size ratios; but using the media player classic has proven to solve many of the head scratching problems. now i can watch lost episode 4 with a bigger picture! then i tried watching 300 (hd-dvd version) and spiderman 3 (blu-ray version) and the picture quality is just amazing. holy shit. now i want all of my movies to be in native blu-ray quality! i almost got a video orgasm.

then i tried playing computer games with the tv, but i still couldn't figure out how to bump up the resolution to 1280p. both my graphic card and the TV support resolution higher than that, but i just can't make it work. so more research to do!

all in all, this is not the best LCD HDTV out there, but it sure has the best bang for the buck. or yen. at this price range, this is the best high definiton-capable LCD HDTV anyone could get. the picture quality is superb (digital tv broadcasting being the best, computer monitor being the last of the 3) although the audio is lacking. a very good product (considering the cheap price tag) from sharp and in the end, i have become another satisfied customer.

george lucas! give us star wars in blu-ray !!!

i'm a japanese demon for 30 seconds

i'm a japanese demon for 30 seconds because if it's longer than that, it could get very itchy. this is the costume for a famous japanese demon, namahage. it's like santa clause japanese version, and i'm not talking about the red coca cola santa clause that marketing people used to encourage people to spend more than they could afford just for the sake of the spirit of holiday.

so you're against whaling?

what hypocrites. australians protests against whaling, but they themselves eat other meat and even kill and hunt dingos, which is an endangered species, unlike the mink whale. typical of the ignorant aussies, they don't care about other people's culture and traditions.

i want me some mink whale burgers, now !!!

*just a stupid rant*

Loose Translation to those who does not understand japanese:

Haghi ni maso nok ambik pekso welfare, ado ore tulih kat mejo hok kawe tengoh duduk:

[kawe koho tok leh cayo doh pado kato oghe hok kato oghe jate nih tok payoh lawa pon takpo.]

Kawe pon cubo la jawak tulise atah mejo tuh:

[couple jate huduh + tino come belambok2 gitu? Tapi kalu oghe mace demo meme tok masuk aka la hahahaha!]

Kalu demo jawak guano?

sweet tooth

Mont Blanc aux marrons 300 yen. a desert made of puréed chestnut and whipcream. this is a great piece of culinary art, but i still think it's too expensive. 300 yen=rm 10.

cheeze cake 200 yen and choux à la crème 150 yen. the combination of a piece of a cheeze cake and a fat cream puff is excellent. FTW !!!

i always make sure that my fridge is not out of morinaga's cocoa and milk. cheap, delicious, and probably not as bad as drinking soda or any other carbonated drinks that share the same price tag.

super tuesday

I was following the US presidential race with much interest for a long time now and this has got to be the most exciting thing that ever happened in the politics world. and it got me thinking.

If I were to connect the dots trying to find the similarities of US politics with Malaysia, try to visualize and realize this: Americans want a new leader other than Bush. Malaysians want a new leader other than Badawi.

The US has multiple, strong, hopeful candidates that really brings hope of change for a better future like Obama. The difference with Malaysia is that we have none of those.

People from both countries are dying for a change; it was sad to realize that Malaysians have no one better to hope for.

My county, my country.

one scary story

A man went to a hotel and walked up to the front desk to check in. The woman at the desk gave him his key and told him that on the way to his room, there was a door with no number that was locked and no one was allowed in there. Especially no one should look inside the room, under any circumstances. So he followed the instructions of the woman at the front desk, going straight to his room, and going to bed.

The next night his curiosity would not leave him alone about the room with no number on the door. He walked down the hall to the door and tried the handle. Sure enough it was locked. He bent down and looked through the wide keyhole. Cold air passed through it, chilling his eye. What he saw was a hotel bedroom, like his, and in the corner was a woman whose skin was completely white. She was leaning her head against the wall, facing away from the door. He stared in confusion for a while. He almost knocked on the door, out of curiosity, but decided not to. This disinclination saved his life. He crept away from the door and walked back to his room.

The next day, he returned to the door and looked through the wide keyhole. This time, all he saw was redness. He couldn’t make anything out besides a distinct red color, unmoving. Perhaps the inhabitants of the room knew he was spying the night before, and had blocked the keyhole with something red.

At this point he decided to consult the woman at the front desk for more information. She sighed and said, "Did you look through the keyhole?" The man told her that he had and she said, "Well, I might as well tell you the story. A long time ago, a man murdered his wife in that room, and her ghost haunts it. But these people were not ordinary. They were white all over, except for their eyes, which were red."
