Summer Holiday '09 Day 2

The second day of my summer holiday is all about testing the new D90.

I’ve never been so giddy since I last bought my PS3.

The inner otaku/nerd/gadget-mania in me was unleashed!

To test my D90 for the first time, I decided to go to Harajyuku because that place is packed with the most interesting young people (fashion wise) in Tokyo.

> Taking pictures of random people without their permission: Newbie in photography.

It is just a 50 minutes train ride from Hashimoto (city where I live) to Harajyuku, and I arrived at the station in awe; I have forgotten how crazy Harajyuku is.

The place was packed with people, and tourists with their big cameras.

Quickly I realized how hard it is to take photos at such crowded places.

Everything was moving so fast, I can’t really concentrate of using different configuration to check out and compare the different results… I was really overwhelmed by the many functions and manual settings that the D90 offers.

Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed, White Balance, Composition, Bracketing… I’m lost! It felt too much, and I guess I’m doing this all too fast. I should learn to learn slowly.

I quickly crossed the road from the station to get to Takeshita Road (竹下通り), snapped some photos of the road entrance, and then a heavy pour of rain came, forcing me to get back to the station to find shelter.

And everybody else did the same thing.

The train station is packed full of gothic lolitas, gyarus, hime-keis, homies and huge fat American tourists; all wet and hot.

I can’t stand it any longer, so I decided to go home, after just arrived 15 minutes there LOL.

The train back home felt longer as the bad weather seems to slows down time and I’m a bit blue… but that’s ok because a girl passenger sitting right in front of me on the train wore a shirt so short, I’ve gained little happiness.

You perverts, I can’t take photos! Might get charged with chikan/perversion in public places!

I arrived in Hashimoto, and the Hanabata Matsuri is still going on.

The last time I went, it was during the night, and this time it is during the day, so I take out my D90 and shoot away.

One last thing, did you know that the D90 was the first dSLR that could shoot HD videos?

Although it is a bummer that the D90 will not Auto-Focus when taking videos, the video quality produced was not bad at all.

Here’s a video of a dance performance that I took during the Hashimoto’s Tanabata Matsuri:

Lastly, here's some of the pictures that I took during my first day with my new girlfriend…ok the D90 does not have a vagina but it’s cute anyways.

Sumidagawa Firework Festival Summer '09

Hanabi Taikai (花火大会 - Fireworks Festival) has been a favorite summer event in Japan for hundreds of years, and this tradition is still on the top list of the things that the festival-loving Japanese people loves to do during summer.

I've been in Japan for more than 6 years, and I have never missed going to a Hanabi Taikai at least once a year, and for Summer 2009, last Saturday I went to the Sumidagawa Firework Festival, one of the top 3 Hanabi Taikai in Tokyo.

This was also my first time going to a Hanabi Taikai in the Kanto Area.

Different from my past experiences in Nagaoka, Nagano, Akita etc, Hanabi Taikai in Tokyo is quite different; the number of people attending was just staggering.

Upon arriving at the Hikifune Station, I could see thousands and thousands of people, with many girls in pretty yukatas, flooding the street.

The nearest combini was prepared with extra food for the many crowds.

It's good business.

I went to this Hanabi Taikai with my fellow co-workers (about 20 of us), and some of them are determined enough to get a good place for us that they went to secure the place at midnight, about 8 hours before the show started.

Impressive determination, and I am very thankful for them because if they didn't do it, we would probably end up sitting on hot pavements.

Before the show started, we went to find food.

Then it began.

Everyone was locked looking at the sky.

It was just brilliant.

I hope I could do this again every year.

Anyways, of course watching fireworks while having fun with your mates is great, but using your camera's fantastic zooming capabilities to 'further one's horizon' is also another great dimension of fun, too.

Here we could see that even Japanese girls dig ipod touch! That's the only motive of the picture above: to show you that there are Japanese girls who owns an ipod touch, and they're really into using it that sometimes they forgot to err... put their drinks on more suitable places?

Yes people, you can thank me on the comment section! ;)

new discoveries

one of my co-workers got lucky yesterday.

he lives on the upper floors of the same apartment that i currently resides.

it was around 10 at night, and when he looked outside his window, he noticed that the resident living in this other apartment located just across the road, forgot to curtain-up her windows.

all men were born with curious eyes.

then he could see the girl in her room came out from the showers, and only after she finishes to blow her hair and changed clothes that she realized that her window was open for my lucky co-worker's visual enjoyment.

this is not the reason why i'm writing this.

i'm writing this because just now i was informed that the apartment that i mentioned above was actually a female dormitory for aoyama gakuin university students!

and i could see them hanging their camisoles and stockings from my window!

oh man, even the thought of this gives me mid-night boners.

LOL.

hahaha anyways, i was inspired to write about this after i read one mind-opening article by one of my ex-schoolmates. it's about taking a step back to look at the world in a wider view point.

i should also sometimes take a step back, and appreciate my nearest surroundings first before searching for interesting things in far away places.

the majority of people reading this would think that this is nothing more than creepy perverseness, but i think it's just harmless little sweetness of living in a city where apartments are located very close to each other.

i'm going to pay more attention towards my windows now.

Japanese Salaryman Life pt.1

When I was still a student, I always wondered how an ordinary Japanese salaryman live their life.

If one reads the many articles written by the western media about the Japanese salaryman, one could not escape the impression of the life of the everyday Japanese salaryman to be terribly stressful and horribly overworked, leading to a sexless life with the wife, and fuel the booming of compensated-dating with materialistic-minded, under-aged girls.

Every morning they have to endure the worst morning rushes in the world to get to work using the always over-crowded 'densha'; and in those small spaces where people rub shoulders with each other while they try their best to keep their balance so that they don't step on another salaryman's foot, or pressed on an office lady's breasts too hard (unintentionally, I hope), the ordinary Japanese salaryman would never refrain themselves from grabbing the still developing but already meaty and firm, buttocks of not-so-innocent Japanese high school girls who always wore their skirt way too short just to be cool at school, as they are very weak when it comes to peer pressure.

Their life is pathetic as it was just a declining road to 過労死 (karoushi), while frequently visiting the nearest soaplands and kyabakura clubs along the way.

As you can see, they don't have the nicest reputation.

And I've become one.

Well, sort of... It has only been a month and I still didn't have the opportunity to visit or do all those perverted things that they are famous for, as they have been portraited in the western media.

I really do lack in experience, but I could at least share what I have been through these past weeks... And I am pretty sure some of my blog readers out there, especially my kohais, would want to know what a salaryman life loosely assembles like.

So here it goes...

Ok I think I should stop here right now because it's almost 10:00 pm and I got to go to bed as soon as possible as I don't want to wake up late tomorrow; I need to get up at 05:45 am every morning to get to work god damn it!

To be continued...

p/s: to be fair though, although the phrase 'salaryman' means males who works under a salary, the more common usage of the title is applied to Japanese white-collar businessmen... not engineers, teachers, porn stars, police officer etc...

i'm not no 7 anymore

i used to be no 7.

now i'm supposedly the guy with the best sense of humor among my peers in facebook.

unfortunately, the guy with the best sense of humor, is also the craziest.

you just can't separate the two.

and the weirdest thing is,

it seems like i also have the hottest body.

so should i re-consider my career planning and strive to be a stand-up comedian and also a metro-sexual stripper at clubs exclusive to lonely women with money?

now i have a hard choice to make.

become an engineer.

or a comedian stripper.

i want to be both but i can't because i'm crazy!

oh, the complexity of life!

but at the end, i chose to be an engineer.

because i could never be as cool or as hard-working as a comedian whose basic routine is slapping his six-pack abs.....

with his penis.

just imagine the hard work.

that is why right now i am going back to work on my thesis presentation.

SPOILERS

this is just a silly joke. of course i am not that self-centered to really believe that i am funny, crazy and have the best body all at the same time! and no ladies, i cannot slap my abs with my penis, so please don't ask. i'm asian, remember?

thesis writing and old japanese nurses

At last, my professor is satisfied with the results of the latest experimental addition to my research material, and finally approved of me to go ahead and finalize all the experiment data accumulated, so that I could wrap my mind around my thesis and start writing it.

At last, I didn’t have to go through those repetitively tedious experiments anymore, and focus more on what is important; that is critical thinking and constructed assumption through proven data.

At last, I could start harvesting fruits from my efforts.

I know I’m going to be busier the next 11 days, but this is not a time to whine.

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

Anyways, yesterday I went to Nakatsu Health Clinic to go through a required medical check up that my (future) company asked all their 新人社員 (new employees) to go through.

I arrived at the clinic 15 minutes earlier than my appointment, and I went straight to the 受付カウンター (reception counter).

“ Ah, Muhamado Taufikku Ari San, we have been expecting you. Now take this cup and piss in it, please…”

I hate urine test, but I got no other choice.

The urine cup they gave me is actually quite interesting though, because at the bottom of the cup, it had blue marks, like a bull’s-eye, so that the pisser could target his piss into the cup correctly.

Anyways, I pissed long and hard that even the big cup couldn’t hold all of my piss together, and some of it got spilled and the cup got messy. I pity the nurse that’s going to take my cup, because it is all wet… and warm.

Sorry :p

Then I went through the usual routines, blood tests, height and weight, hearing and seeing ability, lung capacity, cardio-magna-electric test etc.

Anyways, if you haven’t known already, I have a weird fetish for Japanese nurses; and I can’t tell you how excited I am to meet real life nurses.

But through yesterday’s experience, I have found something else about my fetish for Japanese nurses; it only applies to ‘young and pretty’ nurses only.

The nurses in the clinic are mostly in their late 30s or 40s, and I didn’t felt the same excitement that I have with nurses in their 20s.

Anyways, I don’t know whether I’m exaggerating the situation or not, but I think this one old nurse (maybe in her late 40s) who is taking care of me through out the whole process, tries her every chance to touch me.

I am dead serious.

Like when I need to take off my clothes for the cardiovascular routine, she tries to do it for me, kinda in a forceful way. I was like “hey I can take my clothes off by myself!” but she insisted to do it.

And as I lie half-naked on the bed exposed to the dangerous eyes and wrinkly hands of the old Japanese nurse, she keeps tapping my chest, stomach, arms and legs; saying that she is trying to find the right ‘spot’ to stick the sensors.

I know I might be exaggerating this, but I seriously think that the touching is overly done, because I actually felt uncomfortable.

Then when I went to see the doctor to check my lungs, once again she lifts up my shirt, like I can’t do it by myself!

Well, of course, if the nurse is a pretty young nurse with an innocent smile, I won’t mind the excessive touching, at all. In fact, I would even pay her to touch my other body-parts… but this is an old lady with a make-up like a geisha that I’m referring to here.

Anyways, these kinds of traumatic experiences could have a dire effect on one's emotional stability, as being proven by studies performed on those sexually abused in the past. So to prevent such horrible acts of inhumanity to ever be forced upon my helpless body (and mind) ever again, next time I'm getting a medical check-up, I will make it my utmost priority to make sure that the clinic that I chose to have the medical check-up routine, would have an ample supply of young, pretty and hot nurses.

I’m a sensitive person.

:)

M-1 Grand Prix 2008

i just have to post this.

last night the asahi broadcasting aired the annual M-1 Grand Prix 2008, and what a great show it was. every routine by each of the 9 manzai duos were terrific and high in quality; and my favorite one was from オードリー (O-DORI-) during the first round. just watch the video below:

i thought they (O-DORI-) are going to win, but the winner goes to NONSTYLE, which is totally fine by me because they're funny too.

with the year 2008 coming to an end, i'm totally looking forward to more entertaining annual japanese tv specials. this is the time when japanese tv went really crazy with their ideas to produce awesome tv shows.

come on, come on...

i recorded the video below (click link to reveal it) during the announcement of the winner.

easily amused cat is not amused anymore

When I moved up into my final year and got accepted into the lab to start doing my final year project/research, I expected that I’m going to be pretty busy; and I won’t have the leisure of time to frequently blog like I used to anymore.

But to tell you the truth though, I don’t think I’m THAT busy.

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

Of course, I have seminars to prepare and attend to, I have assignments and I have all the simulations and experiments to do, but I do think that I have the time to blog, as frequently as I want to.

“So if I have the time, then why don’t I blog as frequently as I used to?”

I was thinking about the question above while I was taking my hot shower this morning, and I immediately knew the answer:

Now I’ve changed to be a little bit hard to be amused at anything!

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

I used to be amused at anything; and I would blog about it.

I cut my hair, I blog about it.

I saw a pretty girl on the street, I blog about it.

I made chicken curry for my lab partners, I blog about it.

My little sister refuses to hold my hand, I blog about it.

I lost my wallet, and got it back, I blog about it.

I met some clueless Jehovah witness people, I blog about it.

My balls were tortured when I fall from snowboarding, I blog about it.

A strong wind blew the skirt of a Japanese high school girl up, I blog about it.

Ada awek datang nak raba aku time nak gi solat Jumaat, aku blog pasal tuh.

I had a boner, I blog about it.

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

The list of me being amused at EVERYTHING goes on and on and on, and I’m still blogging about it! I can’t believe at how easy it is for me to be amused at something; and just look at me amused at how easily I got amused!

But now, I’m not easily amused anymore; and when I'm not amused, I don't blog.

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

Like this morning, a cat was raping another cat right at the center of the main road in front of the library, and then a group of girls in inappropriately short skirts came to the rescue and they got the rapist cat running away, and the scared cat pisses while he runs (or maybe he was ejaculating? i don't know).

Usually, I would get amused at useless crap like this and immediately blog about it; but I'm not amused at all, so I won't blog about it.

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

Wait a minute; I'm actually blogging about it. Damn!

Aahh crap, I’m really bad at making any sense.

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

Anyways, to get to the point that I'm trying to say: the reason why I don’t blog as frequently as I used to lately is because I have become someone who is not as easily amused by life’s simple occurrences as before.

I’ve become numb to what is happening around me.

I’ve become a dead boring person.

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

Even if the town that I’m living right now was attacked by ninja zombies, I’m not going to be amused by the taught of the exciting possibilities of my brain being eaten while I scream in horrible pain.

I’m not going to be amused, even if [PUT YOUR MOST DESIRED SEXUAL FANTASIES HERE] happened and it was all for free.

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

I need to change.

I need to re-open my eyes to my surroundings and stop taking for granted of all the wonderful things that is happening around me.

Well, I know the economy is bad and the Japanese government is predicting 0% of economic growth for the country until 2010, which sucks for me because I might get less bonus (or maybe worse, ZERO!) when I start working next April.

Being amused at things is good, because it made my life a little bit 'lively', I don't know the word.

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

I need to be easily amused again, be thankful for what I got in life, and then blog about it.

Maybe I should start video-blogging too; that might be quite interesting to try on!

upgrade problems :)

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 and noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up quite a lot of space and valuable resources. No mention of this phenomenon was included in the product brochure.

In addition, Wife 1.0 installs itself into all other programs, and launches during the system initialization where it monitors all other system activity. Applications like Pokernight 10.3, Drunken Boys Night 2.5, and Monday Night Football 5.0 no longer run, crashing the system whenever selected.

I am thinking of going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but the uninstall does not seem to work on this program. Can you help me PLEASE!?!?

Thanks, Joe

Dear Joe,

This is a very common problem men complain about but is mostly due to a primary misconception. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 with the idea that Wife 1.0 is merely utilities and entertainment program.

Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its creator to run everything. It is very unlikely that you will be able to purge Wife 1.0 and still convert back to Girlfriend 7.0. Hidden operating files within the system would cause Girlfriend 7.0 to emulate Wife 1.0, so nothing is gained other than small change of scenery. It is impossible to purge, delete, or un-install the program files from the system once they are installed. You can not go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is not designed to do this.

Some have gone as far as installing Girlfriend 8.0 in a hidden subdirectory, or tried installing Wife 2.0, but end up with more problems than the original system had. Detection of Girlfriend 8.0 or Wife 2.0 can result in Wife 1.0 creating general protection faults such as “Warning- Cannot find Alimony or Child Support files, or files are out of date.” Because Wife 1.0’s directories and sub-directories are almost impossible to understand or modify, some over-rides have been installed to assist you in (at least) making Wife 1.0 a livable experience.

I recommend that you attempt the following at the onset of ANY problems that you might have. After any system crash, Wife 1.0 WILL give you an opportunity to fix the problem yourself (although you might not see the opportunity, it IS there, you just have to look for it). At the C prompt enter the following:

c:\apologize

Generally this should work, unless you have truly created a massive error. In any case, avoid hitting the “Esc” key at all costs! There are also add-ons that you can install to assist you in your efforts. Try buying a copy of Flowers 4.1 or Chocolates 5.5, or both for really big errors. Do not, under ANY circumstances install Secretary v38.24.36 with short skirt upgrade! This is not a supported application for any of the Wife OR Girlfriend series programs, and is likely to cause irreversible damage to the system.

Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean 2.5, Sweep 3.0, Cook 1.5 and DoLaundry 4.2. However, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program NagNag 9.5 . Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Silk Dress 2.1 and Jewellery 5.0

Best of Luck, Tech Support

Being a Muslim in Japan

Ramadhan gave me the opportunity to sit back and take a third-person look at my past experiences being a Muslim in Japan. I'm not really good at being super religious, but I strive to be a better person each day; but I must say, being in Japan did change my view about being an ordinary Muslim just trying to get through life.

A lot of my Muslim friends ask me: Is it hard to be a Muslim in Japan compared to Malaysia?

My normal answer would be: Definitely not easy, but you’ll get used to it in time.

It is easier to practice Islam when you’re in a community with a Muslim majority; mosques are a plenty, halal food is everywhere, everyone knows the do’s and don’ts of Islam and you don’t really have to think about integration with people from different cultural/religious backgrounds. Everything is easier.

The same things cannot be said when it comes to Japan, the land of the rising sun. Unlike other developed countries like the United States, Great Britain, France etc, in Japan the mosques are scarce, halal food could only be bought through the internet, there are a lot of misunderstandings about Islam and a lot of people thought that religion are nothing more than a technique that people had been using from ancient times to control other people’s way of life.

There is only a mere 1% of the people who live in Japan who is Muslim, and 90% of that pie came from Muslim foreigners. And 90% of those Muslim Japanese, became Muslims because they want to marry a Muslim. Suffice to say the percentage Muslim Japanese in Japan is like the percentage of Jew Malaysians in Malaysia, they’re really small in numbers.

The majority of Japanese people are Liberal Atheists, and they perceive religion as a very personal thing; as long as you don’t mess up with other people’s business, you’re doing just fine. Islamophobia almost doesn’t exist because people don’t really care about religion or faith; and some doesn't even know the existence of Islam to begin with. But that is slowly changing, sadly by the works of Osama Bin Laden.

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
So what does it mean to be a Muslim in Japan?

Being Muslim in Japan means you have to practice Islam more than you would in Malaysia, IF you want to achieve the equal level of closeness with the faith. Being a Muslim in Japan demands more effort and a strong will of Iman.

I might be dead wrong, but at least that’s my opinion; through experience.

This is because, in a daily life of a Muslim in Japan, the exposure and sense of existence of the strong cultures of Islam, especially the ritual part, are very low compared to what I used to feel when I’m in Malaysia. You don’t hear the azan, nobody cares about the concept of covering one's awrah, people idolize pork, they don’t pray, and you don’t hear conversations discussing Islam. Everytime you want to shop for food, you have to check the contents in the back for haram ingredients, and you can’t fell safe because sometimes the haram ingredients are not written at all.

But like I said before, it’s all ritual stuff. The essence and value of Islam is actually everywhere in Japan. The roads are swept clean from rubbish (sense of cleanliness), the level of crime is one of the lowest in the world (sense of righteousness), almost everyone is polite at certain level (sense of being nice?), everyone is dedicated to their work (well, maybe TOO dedicated sometimes, ever heard of Karōshi?)… these are some of the qualities that Islam claimed to promote.

Japanese people are very much Muslims at heart; they just eat pork, don’t perform the solat and have a weird fondness to hentai and pervert things.

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
Of course, not everything about Japan is all cherry and honey. Like any other country in the world, there are lots of things that are fucked up about Japan. Take for instance, its high suicide rate and sexual crimes. Well, I can’t deny that although Japanese are very nice people, they sometimes are too serious and they do live in a very stressful society that frowns upon failure; compared to Malaysians. People believe that they fail because they don’t work hard enough.

They rather die than face the shame of being a failure, it’s unbearable to them. They took the concept of 'losing face' to a higher level than we Malaysians.

Anyways, I’m not an expert in social-science of Japan, so my observation about the Japanese society might be nothing more than bullshit, so don’t really believe what I think about them. You never know, there maybe a stress-free Japanese person out there who is lazy as hell, cannot eat raw fish and hate hentai.

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
Being a Muslim in Japan, people will ask about this alien religion that seems to be associated with a lot of violence and terrorism, as famously portrayed by the international media. I was once asked “So you’re a Muslim? You’re not with the Al-Qaeda, aren’t you?”

At first, I was really uncomfortable with people associating Islam and violence while pointing it to my nose. Damn you OSAMA! But I came to take these ignorant ideas and see it in a humorous way and make a joke about it.

“Hi my name is Taufiq Ali and just because I didn’t bring my bomb-wrapped green jacket, that doesn’t mean that I’m not a proper Muslim”

Islam teaches about peace and being cool with each other, but it is hard to answer to the violence, unfairness and human-right-abusive actions that those Muslims did in the other part of the world. You can say “ohh don’t compare me to them, they’re extremist!” but the fact still remains that they’re Muslim, no matter how fucked up their understanding of the religion is.

The only thing that I could do is to explain to them that in every religion, there are extremists and clever opportunists who use the influence and strict sense of obedience in religion, for their own personal gain; or for an ideology that was based on hatred, not peace as being taught by Prophet Muhammad saw.

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
One of the main responses when I talk about Islam to my Japanese friends is the ritual obligation and some of the strict regulations about food and social-interactions. A good Muslim doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink alcohol, doesn’t eat disgusting pork and doesn’t have pre-marital sex. They jumped when I said that couples were not even allowed to hold hands; and hand-jobs are just unthinkable.

“So you are telling me… even if one day, a very beautiful lady with a really healthy set of knockers came to you and said you could fondle her breasts for free, you wouldn’t do it?”

No I won’t. I will say no, as I swept away the tears bursting out of my eyes.

“Wow I don’t believe you. So what if this one very pretty girl came up to you and offered to PAY you to bone her senseless? An offer no man can refuse. Just think about it. You don’t have to bring her for a nice dinner in some fancy restaurant. You don't have to go the cinemas and watch romatic movies with her just to pretend to be a sensitive guy who could stand romance. You don’t have to act like you’re listening to her talk about emotions and feelings etc, you know, the words that girls often use to confuse men. You don’t have to buy her innocent gifts like teddy bears (which is gay, but guys do it anyways in hope of happy-bang-bang in return). In short, you don’t have to pretend that you care about what she thinks and feels, and still you’re being offered sexy-time!”

First I would think for a second, and before conscience tries to cloud my judgment, I will say no to that too, but I will probably hit the floor and cry like a baby later on.

“You’re tough, but what if this extremely cute girl with the most perfect shape of breast…..”

As you can see, being Muslim in Japan is not very easy.

manly love and new fragrance

i'm not trying to state the obvious here but the image above speaks nothing but the truth. i just think that both parties should understand the difference between each other and try to accept who they really are.

*^*^*^*^*^*^
after a suggestion from arip, i bought my first fragrance! i know nothing about branded fragrance so i just picked the most popular one from kakuku.com and i got the package yesterday. this particular fragrance, the bvlgari pour homme (how do you pronounce this?), doesn't smell that bad and i think i wouldn't have problems wearing this when i'm out. at least it smells nicer than my sweaty armpits.

*^*^*^*^*^*^
jamah bab politik malaysia sket. aku hairan sekarang, raja petra kena ISA, tapi ahmad ismail tak kena plak. busuk... memang busuk... pakai fragrance itali yang paling mahal pon, tetap busuk...

n*i*f*c*o briefing

2 weeks ago, I went to Tamachi(田町), Tokyo to attend a company briefing for a plastic automobile-parts maker, n*i*f*c*o. There were only three students who attended the briefing, so the whole process was done in very informal way; like attending a technology expo except friendlier and with fewer people.

After the briefing, now I understand that the company is driven by creativity; and I was hooked.

So after the briefing, they asked us: so, who wants to try to be part of the company?

All three of us raised our hands.

“Well, then. Let’s first start by testing your IQ and aptitude abilities. Here are some test papers and try to finish it in 2 hours… starting from NOW!”

With so many questions with such a little time, I felt like being tortured. The IQ test is like a normal IQ test, and I don’t think it was painfully hard. But the aptitude test was a pain right in the center of my anus hole. How did they expect us to finish it with this little time?!

I guess it was not just a simple IQ + aptitude test. It was also an endurance test in disguise. I was tired like a stray dog after battling for 120 minutes.

When the 2 hours of pain was over, they told us that we could leave; but they asked me to stay.

“So, before we could accept you as part of the company, you have to pass two interviews: the first one is with the human resource department and the last one, the BIG one: with the boards of directors. You’re from Akita right? It must be hard for you to come to Tokyo 2 more times. So I have a proposal: Why don’t we do the human resource interview right here, right now? Then the next time you came here, it would be straight with the boards of directors.”

Although I’m tired as hell, there is no way I’m going to say no. This could significantly shorten the whole process!

I guess the main propose of the human resource department interview is to look at my character, my personality. They didn’t ask any technical stuff. They just ask simple questions. Like what are my hobbies. My likes and dislikes. Why I choose to further my studies in Japan. How does it feel when I first saw REAL snow. Do I like sushi. Bla la bla.

Just when the interview seems to have come to its end, one of the senior interviewers asked me a rather weird question that caught me off guard:

Do you have a girlfriend?” with a smile on his face.

A girlfriend? A living, breathing, human girlfriend?

“Unfortunately for me, I don’t have a girlfriend.”

Then they burst into laughter. I burst into laughter too, because my private social relationship life is so funny.

I guess an interview that ends with the interviewer and interviewee both laughing, is a good one. Then they told me that if I pass the IQ test + the aptitude test + the human resource interview, they will call me again for the final interview with the boards of directors.

When I was packing my stuff to get ready to leave, the senior interviewer pats my shoulder and asked when my bus leaves. I said 11:00 p.m. and until that time, I have nothing planned.

So he once again surprised me with a question: “You said that you’re doing nothing until your bus leaves, so why don’t you join me for a drink at my favorite izakaya? I know you don’t drink alcohol so you could drink fruit juice instead. Don’t worry, of course I’m paying!”

Is it normal for an interviewer to ask the interviewee to go for a drink after a job interview?

I loosen my neck-tie, take off my suit and said “Why not?”

The izakaya we went to was pack-full of salaryman. Then as he drinks his favourite Shōchū, and me with my apple juice, we talked about various, interesting topics. About how the Japanese young generation has changed compared to the old days. About how dangerous Japan has become (I still think that Japan has the lowest crime rate in the world though). The strict Japanese culture of seniority. How ones way of thinking changes dramatically over time. Lots of interesting things.

But I couldn’t really focus on the talking because the girl sitting next to me kept getting groped by his old, ugly ‘boyfriend’, probably her sugar daddy who was sitting on the other side of her. The drunken sugar daddy even tried to took her panties off, begging to let him smell it, but in vain because she said she didn’t wear any. That girl is a genius; that is why she has a sugar daddy.

Anyways, after we left the izakaya, he insisted to walk me to the nearest train station. Then I said my goodbyes. I think he is really a nice person inside. He is still polite even when he was drunk.

On the bus home, I can’t keep my mind off that panty-less girl.

one nose-bleeding afternoon

I don’t know whether it’s the sudden change in humidity and temperature, or maybe because of the sudden rise of girls from the education faculty wearing (even more) flesh-baring summer clothings that never failed to catch the attention of visual-based creatures like the human male; I got a terrible nose-bleed in the afternoon today at the lab.

The nose-bleed was not that bad actually, but you can’t help but felt a bit surprised when you see all those blood on the tissue.

I cleaned my ‘bloody’ nose with water, stuck it with a well-twisted pieces of tissue, stopped thinking about perverted things, and the bleeding magically stopped. I don’t know what I did right, but it helped.

With the nose-bleed problem solved, now I can go back to doing the boring fortran practices. It’s really an alien programming language to me, and I’m still not used to the basic structures and flow of how the program reads its codes.

Why would a straight guy like me, would even consider drinking an extremely gay drink such as jasmine tea? Well, for the sake of diet of course! and I'm doing pretty good with this diet thingy.

di raba sebelum solat jumaat

tengok jam. sudah pukul 12:10 tengah hari.

solat jumaat start pukul 12:20. jalan cepat sket ah, biar sampai surau awal.

aku berjalan pantas, mata lurus ke depan.

aku tak nampak awek2 berskirt mini kiri kanan.

aku tak nampak paha2 mereka yg putih melepak.

lagi2 dek pantulan cahaya matahari.

aku dalam perjalanan nak menunaikan solat.

aku berjalan pantas, mata lurus ke depan.

[ ali ! ali ! ]

hmm? sapa yg panggil tu?

alamak!

awek yg suka sentuh2 tu datang melambai plak!

aku tak nak terbatal air sembahyang plak.

so aku jalan pantas, mata lurus ke depan.

* * * * * * * * *

tapi aku sebenarnya jalan lambat, mata plak terus pergi ke arah suara yg memanggil nama aku.

baju style british high school punya sweater. mini skirt.

kalo terbatal wuduk, kena buka kasut, buka stokin, baru bole ambik wuduk balik.

tidak!

kali ni aku takkan benar kan dia nih raba aku!

* * * * * * * * *

baru aje 10 saat aku start bercakap, dia dah nak raba siku aku.

aku dengan pantas bertindak mengangkat siku.

biar dia raba tulang rusuk aku yg berlapik dengan baju daripada sentuh siku aku yg bogel.

tapi 'awek suka meraba' nih macam kucing.

lagi dia tak dapat, makin aktif dia nak tangkap.

[[ aku rasa, kalo ada sapa2 yg bagi dia hadiah ipod touch.

mau dia gelak sampai mati sebab gembira gila. ]]

aku bersilat demi mempertahankan wuduk.

aku serious. gilak serious. sebab aku tak nak bukak stokin.

* * * * * * * * *

dalam kesengitan pertarungan yg hangat itu.

mcam mana ntah.

aku bole terlutut dia punya ibu jari sebelah kanan.

macam jaguh tomoi siam, aku bagi lutut sama itu ibu jari.

krak!

rangup bunyi pertembungan itu.

tapi air muka 'awek suka meraba' tu tak rangup langsung.

sakit sangat ke kena lutut ngan aku?

* * * * * * * * *

akhirnya aku berjaya mempertahankan wuduk.

tak payah buka stokin, bole terus solat.

tapi aku rasa.

lepas ni awek tu tak akan datang raba aku lagi.

cet.

* * * * * * * * *

aku tak kesah pon kena raba.

tapi jangan la time aku nak gi solat!

tapi aku rasa mcam tak adil la.

asal pompoan bole raba laki.

tapi laki tak leh raba pompoan?

i demand gender equality !!!

malaysian school uniform for girls: too transparent, too sexy?

There has been quite a buzz when a group of muslim students (National Islamic Students Association of Malaysia) came up with an idea that the current school uniform for Malaysian girls, are just too transparent, too sexy.

News link here, and here.

Hmmm... I just don't see what the fuzz is all about. Religious groups have been trying to connect the way women dresses with rape, from as long as I could remember. Some famous religious figure have also been quoted to say that the women who dresses sexy deserves to be raped. I don't think defending the rapist would be Islamic ... or is it, now?

I don’t want to talk about whether I agree or not.

But I remember this one time, when I was in form 2 (or maybe 3), it was raining, the thunder-storm is coming and I was waiting for the bus when a group of girls from a nearby religious all-girls school come running towards the bus stand. They’re all wet and drippy.

I don’t mean to look but I remember this one scene in a malay movie starring ogy ahmad daud, where she was wet in her school uniform and then she was pretty sexy and all… I don’t remember the scene quite well but I was like… wait a minute… I think I should just stop here and leave the rest to your imagination.

I don’t even know why I’m writing this.

What was is it again? O man, I just lost it. I need some rest.

p/s: the picture above has nothing to do with the post. it's just some random junk from 2chan. the picture below might be more relevant:
